2025-04-08 “Peter … cried, saying, Lord, save me”

Matthew 14:29  “And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.  30  But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me31  And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

We must not think ill of “Peter”, for we are all guilty of allowing the “boisterous” “wind” of our troubles and trials to seize our attention and fill our minds with anxiety and fear.  But, when it happens, in the Lord’s lesson to “Peter”, we are taught what to do.  As he was “beginning to sink” “Peter” “cried, saying, Lord, save me”.  When he “cried”, our loving Almighty “good shepherd” (John 10:11) and Savior “immediately … stretched forth his hand, and caught him”.  He wasn’t just there for “Peter”, our Lord made this Promise to His Disciples and to us: “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20) and our Lord “hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5)!  So, when the “boisterous” “wind” of our troubles and trials and heartbreaks begin to fill us with anxiety and fear; let us follow Peter’s example and cry out to the “Lord”, for He is always right there with us to stretch “forth his hand” to deliver us out of or through our troubles.  He is the “friend that sticketh closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24)!
