Matthew 14:32 “And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.”
We sing “Blessed Assurance”, but the Lord’s Disciples were made to be fully assured that night! The day before, they had seen the Lord feed “five thousand men, beside women and children” with “five loaves and the two fishes” (Matthew 14:19-21), they had just witnessed the Lord walking on the stormy sea, the Lord causing Peter to walk on the stormy sea, and now “the wind” suddenly “ceased” when The Lord and Peter “were come into the ship”! Knowing for certain, that the man standing right in front of them, is “the Son of God”, they “came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God”. The Lord was training and equipping His Disciples for the perilous duties that they would face after His Departure. But, this miraculous account also comforts and strengthens us as we face the storms of our lives. What they experienced is in perfect harmony with the “substance” and “evidence” of “faith” that our Gracious Lord has placed within each of His “born again” (John 3:1-8) Children (Hebrews 11:1; 12:2). Knowing that it is “the Son of God” Himself with us in the storms of our lives, let us diligently worship Him and “deny” ourselves anything that hinders our worshipful service to Him and “take up” our “cross daily” and “follow” Him (Luke 9:23)! I have survived many awful storms in my life, because my Beloved Jesus was in the storm with me!
