2025-04-15 “what God is there in heaven or in earth”

Deuteronomy 3:24  “O Lord GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?

Earlier in his life, Moses had fled from his enemies in Egypt and when the “Lord God” told him that He was sending him back to lead His people out of bondage, Moses answered back with every excuse he could think of why he was not the right one to send.  But, the “Lord God” simply told him that he was going and that He would be with Him; he was to go with God’s strength and wisdom, not his own.  Furthermore, Moses would see firsthand how all the perceived power of the Egyptian pagan gods would utterly fail when faced with the Almighty Power of the Living God.  Now, as Moses was approaching the end of his natural life and had experienced the Sovereign Power Of the “Lord God”; he declared, “O Lord GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?”.  In in prayer, Moses told “God” this question, “what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works”; that is, ALL of man’s contrived gods are revealed to be no gods at all when faced with the true “God”.  Fundamentally, a human god is anyone or anything that we allow to have preeminence over the true “God” in our lives.  These non-gods seek to seize control of our lives through carnal enticements (lusts) and/or fear.  But, when we “stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD” (Exodus 14:13) we begin to learn of our Lord’s “greatness” and the effectual power of His “mighty hand”!  The more we learn of Him, the more we experience the peace and joy He gives us in this present life, as we await our elevation to our Heavenly Home!
