2025-04-22 “governor among the nations” [From A Previous Note]

Psalm 22:28  “For the kingdom is the LORD’S: and he is the governor among the nations.

This Psalm prophecies of the coming Messiah and of His Sacrifice.  The Lord’s words on the cross, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” are recorded in Psalm 22:1.  In Psalm 22:18 it is prophesied that “They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.”.  The “King of kings” (I Timothy 6:15) did indeed come, He did submit Himself to be crucified, and He did Give His life to “save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).  Yet, He arose from the tomb and now He reigns as “the governor among the nations”.  Knowing that our Lord is the Supreme “governor among the nations” should greatly comfort us, for even “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” (Proverbs 21:1).  In periods of political unrest, the Children of God can become frightened and discouraged, thinking that they might lose their freedom to worship and live peaceful lives.  In such times we are encouraged to remember, that the same Lord who gave His precious life for us, today rules as the “governor among the nations” and He even governs the “king’s heart”.  Therefore, as we live through such periods of distress and unrest; let us prayerfully “stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD” and stand in awe of Him as He secures His sovereign will over even the most vain rulers.  We have every reason to rejoice in the Lord, no matter how bleak things may appear to our natural observation!
