Psalms 95:1 “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.”
As “the rock of our salvation”, our “LORD” “hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,” (II Timothy 1:9). That is, He “hath saved us” from spiritual death by giving us Spiritual Birth/Life (John 3:1-8; Ephesians 2:1-4) by the Holy Spirit and “hath saved us” from “everlasting destruction” (II Thessalonians 1:9, Ephesians 1:4) by the Blessed Sacrifice of His Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! He is called “the rock” because He doesn’t move, He’s always on His Throne; He cannot be destroyed or defeated; He never changes, nothing can remove or change His “great love” for us (Ephesians 2:4; Romans 8:33-39); and at the end of time He will not lose a single one that God the Father had chosen and given to Him “before the foundation of the world” (John 6:36-40; Ephesians 1:4). Furthermore, He is always in the storm scenes of our lives and ready to Sovereignly Command the raging storms of tribulations, troubles, and trials to “peace, be still” (Mark 4:39), always bringing us to a “great calm”. Thus, we are Spiritually Compelled to joyfully Worship, Serve, and Obey the great “rock of our salvation”!
