2025-05-20 “come before his presence with thanksgiving”

Psalms 95:1  “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation2  Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

In this context, to “come before his presence with thanksgiving” is to make “thanksgiving” an integral part of our worship service.  Our demeanor should reflect the joy of “thanksgiving”.  “thanksgiving” should be a significant topic in our fellowship.  We should sing hymns of “thanksgiving”.  Our Prayers should be heavily weighted with “thanksgiving”.  And, our preaching should plainly declare our “thanksgiving”.  We have much to be thankful for!  The Lord “daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation” (Psalms 68:19)!  Our Heavenly Father sent His “only begotten” (John 1:14) and “beloved son” (Matthew 3:17) to Sacrifice Himself, to pay the sin-debt that we could not and cannot pay.  And, our Beloved Savior, Jesus Christ The Son Of God, willingly came into this world and did fully and finally pay the sin-debt for everyone that the Father had given Him (John 6:39); that is, everyone that was “chosen … in him before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4).  Let us strongly give Thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ, for He “finished” (John 19:30) everything necessary to “save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).  Therefore, one Great and Holy Day, we will hear Him Command, “Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34) and we will all be “caught up together … in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (I Thessalonians 4:17).  Oh, let us joyfully “publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all” our Lord’s “wondrous works” (Psalms 26:7)!
