Psalms 95:3 “For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. 5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.”
The Psalmist gives another reason why we must “come before his presence with thanksgiving”; he tells us that, “the strength of the hills is his also”. We gaze upon the majesty of the great “hills” or mountains with awe. Their massive size and height portray their strength and resilience. They appear to be unmovable, and perfectly reliable to always be there. Their majesty and strength so wonderfully reflect the Sovereign Power and Authority of God, that the Psalmist wrote, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” (Psalms 121:1). There is no problem, tribulation, or trial that our Lord cannot defeat or deliver us through. Evil itself is compelled to submit to the Sovereign Power and Authority of our God. According to His Sovereign Will and Power, our Lord “hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (II Timothy 1:9). Also, He could and has defeated sin, death, and the grave because “the strength of the hills is his also”! Therefore, let us “come before his presence with thanksgiving”!
