Psalms 95:6 “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. 7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.”
The “sheep of his hand” is a further description of “the people of his pasture”; it means that, day by day, we are securely under His Authority, His Care, His Guidance, His Love, His Ownership, etc. He tenderly and lovingly waters us with His Holy Spirit, He feeds us with His Glorious Gospel, He guides us with His eye, He comforts us when we are downtrodden, and He heals us when we are wounded or sick. When the way of life is confusing and difficult, He embraces us and calls “follow me”. Because we are “the sheep of his hand”, we are never alone; our Good Shepherd is ALWAYS close by, we just look up and there He is, right before us to help and console us, giving us the sense that ‘all is well’. When our hearts are broken, He is always there with a healing embrace. When shame would drive us away, He picks us up and gives us the sense that He has taken care of everything. And, we lovingly follow Him, for He has drawn us to Himself by His Almighty Love!
