2020-07-10 “speak right things”

Proverbs 23:16  “Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.

Using the illustration of a father instructing his son, it is shown that there is great rejoicing when “right things” are spoken.  Thus, when preachers “speak right things”, the Church rejoices.  When preachers “speak right things” our Lord is glorified and there is great rejoicing in the house of God, in families, in communities, etc.  The souls (the very heart and cause of our being) of “born again” Children of God greatly “rejoice” when preachers “speak right things”.  When wrong things are spoken and taught, some of the Children of God began to base their hope upon carnal things and some become discouraged and flee away.  It is the Lord, and not men, Who determines what is “right” and what is wrong, and He has recorded His “right things” in His Holy Bible.  Thus, preachers are commanded to “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” (II Timothy 4:2).  “right” is not variable, is not adjusted based upon the situation, and is not “of any private interpretation” (II Peter 1:20); that is, we must not put our own spin on it.  These “right things” are referred to as the “everlasting gospel” (it doesn’t change): “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,  7  Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” (Revelation 14:6-7).  It is true, even in our day, that many say to their preachers, “Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits” (Isaiah 30:10); thus, setting themselves up for failure and misery in this present life.  Our Almighty God has declared what is “right”, and that is what we must “speak”!  Notice the Commandment to preachers, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” (II Timothy 4:2); that is, “speak right things” at all times, under all conditions, and before all people!
