I Corinthians 8:1 “Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. 2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.”
Probably the best evidence that you are in the presence of a “born again” (John 3:1-8) Child of God (I Peter 1:2) is the blessed glow of “charity”. “charity” is indeed “love”, but it is the verb form of “love”; that is, “charity” is “love” that is actively practiced, it is shown outwardly to all whom it encounters. Of all our positive Christian characteristics, “charity” is the “greatest” (I Corinthians 13:13). The Word of God is not true just because of my experience, but it is simply the truth; but, my life’s experiences have proven that “Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.”! Those with “charity” are kind, gentle, patient, forgiving, faithful, preferring others before self, and is loving in all circumstances (I Corinthians 13), loving to all people, and it is especially loving to other Children of God. “charity edifieth”; that is, “charity” builds up, helps, and encourages others; it never diminishes or harms others. Considering the issues that our Churches and our Country are presently dealing with, let us pray for one another that “charity” will be the order of the day!
