Isaiah 2:2 “And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.”
The phrase, “the mountain of the LORD’S house”, is a prophetic depiction of our Lord’s “church”. She is depicted as a “mountain” for “the LORD” has made her superbly strong and resilient (Matthew 16:18). She is “established in the top of the mountains”; that is, she is not under the authority and power of any earthly authorities or powers or governments or nations etc. She is “exalted above the hills”; that is, in her simple beauty and majesty and grace and righteousness and power, she stands out from and “above” all earthly entities and powers. So lovely and glorious is she, that the Children of God from “all nations” “flow unto” her to see her and to take part in her glorious grace. The sole authority over her, is the Son of God; He and He alone is her Husband (II Corinthians 11:2), her King (I Timothy 1:17), and her High Priest, (Hebrews 6:20). She is entirely unique in this world, there are none like her. “God is known in her palaces for a refuge” (Psalms 48:3); therefore, the loving Children of God out of “every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people” (Revelation 14:6) flee to her to enjoy her blessed “refuge”! And now, “many people … go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD” (Isaiah 2:3). King David joyfully declared, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.” (Psalms 122:1). The blessed Church of our Lord Jesus Christ is indeed our “refuge” from the tumult, strife, anguish, confusion, hatred, sin, and evil that now plagues our nation!
