2020-11-18 “I myself will awake early.”

Psalm 57:8  “Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.

The Psalmist’s adversaries were preparing “a net for” his “feet” and digging “a pit before” him; but, the Lord caused them to fall into their own “net” and “pit” (Psalm 57:6)!  Therefore, the Psalmist joyfully declared, “I myself will awake early”; that is, “I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.” (Psalm 57:9).  He awoke “early” to proclaim far and wide for all to hear, “For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.” (Psalm 57:10) and “Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.” (Psalm 57:11)!  The adversaries of our Lord, His Word, His Church, and His people are still preparing nets and digging pits; but, the same Lord is on scene with us in our day.  John said it this way, “Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.” (I John 2:18).  But, our Lord will again cause our adversaries, the “many antichrists”, to fall into their own nets and pits.  This is no time to lay around crying woe is me or to fall into despair thinking all is lost; the Lord our Almighty God gets the victory every time the adversaries rise up against His Children.  So, let us get up “early” with pleasant boldness, and praise our Lord; for, in a time and manner pleasing to Him, He will defeat His adversaries.
