Psalm 112:7 “He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.”
The man with his “heart” fixed” on the “LORD” is “A good man” (Psalm 112:5); that is, he is a “born again” (John 3:1-8) Child of God and he does “good” things in service to his “LORD” and for those around him. This “good man” with his “heart” fixed” on the “LORD”, guides “his affairs with discretion” (Psalm 112:5); that is, he prayerfully makes all his decisions according to the Word of God; he is always honest and gracious in all his dealings. This “good man” with his “heart” fixed” on the “LORD” “shall not be moved for ever” (Psalm 112:6); that is, he will not fall into despair’s ruin even when great tribulations come upon him. This “good man” with his “heart” fixed” on the “LORD” “shall not be afraid of evil tidings” because he is “trusting in the LORD”; that is, when “the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things” (Acts 4:25), he simply goes on about his business of doing “good” things, all the while, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). “The wicked shall see” how the “LORD” strengthens and protects this “good man” with his “heart” fixed” on the “LORD”, “and be grieved;” “The wicked” “shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish” (Psalm 112:10). So, now is a good time for us to do a self-examination, is our “heart” fixed” upon all the bad news and evil things happening around us, or is our “heart” fixed” on the “LORD”?!
