2020-11-24 “for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”

Acts 15:26  “Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What does the “name”, “Lord Jesus Christ” mean to us?  What are we communicating when we say that “Jesus” is my “Lord”?  This is such a grave matter that “Barnabas and Paul” (Acts 15:25) had “hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”!  When we say that “Jesus” is my “Lord”; Biblically, we are saying that we are not our own, but that we belong to the “Lord”; Paul wrote, “ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (I Corinthians 6:20) and “Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.” (I Corinthians 7:23).  When we say that I believe in “Jesus”, we are saying that Jehovah Himself came into this present world and saved me from my sin (Matthew 1:21, John 19:30); thus, He alone is the exclusive Savior of His People; for, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12).  When we say that “Jesus” is the “Christ”, we are saying that He is the “Messiah”, the One anointed and sent by God the Father to “save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).  Is such a “Lord Jesus Christ” worth us hazarding our lives to show our “love” to Him by keeping His “commandments” (John 14:15)?!  Joshua boldly declared, “as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15).
