Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
A person might think that the best way to be happy and prosperous is to simply go along with the crowd that is turning away from God, from His Word, and from His Church. As a society turns away from God, the people become selfish, greedy, cold hearted, mean spirited, immoral, and cruel (II Timothy 3:1-5). What we are seeing right now, is that this “way which seemeth right unto a man” leads directly to “death”. This “death” is much like the “death” that Adam died (Genesis 2:17) when he chose to disobey God; for, he died to his innocence, died to his peace, died to the joy and provision of the Garden, and finally he died a natural “death”. In assuming that his “way” is “right”, “man” summarily dismisses God’s “perfect” “way” (Psalms 18:30); in doing so, he sets himself up for “death”; that is, a life separated from real joy and peace; such a life is overwhelmed with devastating shame and misery. Let us not simply go along with the crowd, let us steadfastly declare, “as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15)!
