Titus 1:2 “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”
Those who have this blessed “hope of eternal life” are those to whom “God” has given Spiritual Birth (John 3:1-8) and “faith” (Hebrews 11:1; 12:2). Because He is God, there is no need for Him to “lie”, and because of His perfect righteousness, He simply “cannot lie”. Because He “cannot lie”, whatever He “promised” is sure to come to past, exactly as He has promised it. So, it is certain that our “God, that cannot lie, promised” “eternal life” to His “Elect” (I Peter 1:2) Children “before the world began”. Our Lord declared it this way, “this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day” (John 6:39). Life is often fraught with sin, sinfulness, misery, disappointments, discouragements, pain, meanness, etc., but our God’s sure promise of “eternal life” is our comforting beacon of “hope” while we live out our time in this present world!
