Hebrews 6:20 “Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.”.
Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Savior is our High Priest. Our High Priest is alive and well and is perpetually on duty in the Most Holy Place. Our High Priest “offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God” (Hebrews 10:12). That blessed and perfect “sacrifice” was Himself; our High Priest offered Himself before God the Father and the “sacrifice” was accepted. Only this “one sacrifice” to pay our sin-debt was required! In making this “sacrifice” our High Priest fully and finally “save(d) his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Our High Priest’s “sacrifice” is “for ever”; that is, no other “sacrifice” will ever be needed to “save his people from their sins”! Our High Priest’s “people” are those who were “chosen in him before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4). And, so perfect is His “sacrifice” that our Lord authoritatively declared, “of all which” the Father “hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day” (John 6:39). Therefore, we can worshipfully declare that our High Priest “hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (II Timothy 1:9). And, because this is true, we anxiously look forward to that grand and holy day in which we will her His Blessed Voice Command, “Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34)! But now, while we yet live, lets sincerely pray, “What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?” (Psalms 116:12) always remembering, that we are to “Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)!
