Psalm 37:1 “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.”
From the very beginning of time, the Children of God have had to endure “evildoers”. The “evildoers” oppose and work contrary to everything that is good and moral and true. They hatefully assault our peace and “godliness with contentment” (I Timothy 6:6). They make our lives miserable and seem to prosper and be happy doing it. We are exhorted to “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.”; that is, do not be overwhelmed by anger or discouragement and do not envy their carnal prosperity and sumptuous life. Joab told his soldiers, “Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him good.” (II Samuel 10:12). The God we worship and serve is the God Who Created everything that is in six days (Genesis 1) and He “raiseth the dead” (II Corinthians 1:9); this same Almighty God “will not leave” us “comfortless” (John 14:18). It is wonderfully true that our God will not leave us without comfort and help in times of trouble; for, He has given us His “whole armour” “that” we “may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13). The Children of Israel told the king, “our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand” (Daniel 3:17); similarly, in a time and manner pleasing to Him, our God is “able” to and will deliver us from the “evildoers”, “the workers of iniquity”!
