Psalm 37:1 “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.”
The “evildoers”, “the workers of iniquity” “shall soon be cut down like the grass”; that is, they may think that they can continue in their evil behavior with impunity, but the Lord well knows their vile behavior and, as in every case in the past, in a time and manner pleasing to Him, He will rise up against them and they “shall soon be cut down like the grass”! And when they are “cut down” they will “wither as the green herb”; that is, they shall be rendered harmless to the faithful Children of God. The “evildoers”, “the workers of iniquity” thrust much misery and anguish of heart upon the faithful Children of God, but let us take courage in Paul’s exhortation: “For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: 9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: 10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;” (II Corinthians 1:8-10)!
