Titus 3:7 “That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.”
The truth of Basic Bible Doctrine is the strongest and most effective motivation “to maintain good works”. At this present time an awful disease is sweeping through our Country, violence is a constant plague to our cities, confusion abounds in our government, and people are angry and afraid and discouraged. So, let’s hear the Words of God Himself, “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalms 46:10)! This is the God “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,” (II Timothy 1:9) and the “God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us” (Ephesians 2:4). He is our God, our Father “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” (Titus 3:5), Who “justified” us “by his grace”, and Who “made” us “heirs according to the hope of eternal life”; thus, by His work of “regeneration”, we “have believed in God”. Knowing these things to be true, let us “be careful to maintain good works”! One of the “good works” that we are to “maintain” is “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together” (Hebrews 10:25)! The devil and his minions want to divide us and draw us away from the Lord’s Church and confuse and discourage us. The more people drift away, the more serious our problems will become. Because of the virus, if you don’t feel safe going to Church in person, use the technology our Lord has given us. Join together on the internet or any other means that is available to you. Let us “be careful to maintain good works”!
