2021-09-22 “the furtherance of the gospel”

Philippians 1:12  “But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

I am concerned that the vital importance and necessity of “the gospel” is slipping from the minds of modern Christianity much like it did in times past when the Children of God began to drift away into spiritual lethargy, then they neglected worship altogether – the result was misery and ruin in their lives.  Paul emphasized the importance and necessity of “the gospel” by rejoicing that even his persecution and imprisonment resulted in “Christ” being “preached” (Philippians 1:18).  The pinnacle message of “the gospel” is “that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (I Timothy 1:15); and He did what he came to do, then He declared that “It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost” (John 19:30).  The “gospel” declares that we did all the sinning and Christ did ALL the saving (Isaiah 53:3-12).  The “gospel” declares that God the Father “hath chosen us in” Christ Jesus “before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4).  The “gospel” declares that “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23); but, “that of all which” The Father “hath given” to Christ Jesus, He “should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day” (John 6:39).  The “gospel” declares that the “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father” (I Peter 1:2) are Eternally secure in the bosom of God (Romans 8:28-39).  The “gospel” declares that “whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth” (Hebrews 12:6).  The “gospel” declares that we lovingly know our Lord because “Even when we were dead in sins” our Lord “hath quickened us together with Christ” (Ephesians 2:5)  The “gospel” declares that the Children of God are saved “by grace” and “Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9).  The “gospel” declares that “We love him, because he first loved us.” (I John 4:19).  The “gospel” declares that, at the instant our bodies die, the Children of God shall “be with” the Lord “in paradise” (Luke 23:43).  The “gospel” declares that “the resurrection of the dead” (I Corinthians 15:21) is assured by Jesus Christ.  Job declared “the gospel” this way, “I know that my redeemer liveth” and even after I have been deceased for a very long time “I shall see” Him “for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another” (Job 19:25-27).  The “gospel” declares that the Children of God are to “Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).  Thus, we are Commanded to “Preach the word” (II Timothy 4:2), “Preach” Jesus Christ the Son of God!  Now is the time for all who love the Lord to go to Church where “the gospel” “is preached” and humbly worship and serve the Lord God Almighty!
