II Corinthians 1:21 “Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.”
The Almighty “God” “hath sealed us”. The “us” are the “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father” (I Peter 1:2) who have been “born again” (John 3:1-8) by the “Holy Spirit”. In this context, the “seal” must be applied by one Who has the power and authority to affix the “seal”; that is, “God”. “God” “hath sealed us” to mark “us” as belonging to Him. “God” “hath sealed us” to mark “us” as secure, for He has protected “us” from eternal loss. “God” “hath sealed us” to signify that He has authority and power over us. “God” “hath sealed us” for all to see that He loves us with a “great love” (Ephesians 2:4). “God” “hath sealed us”, giving us the confirmation, personal assurance that we are His beloved Children and He “careth for” “us” (I Peter 5:7). “God” “hath sealed us” under the “new covenant” (Hebrews 12:24), signifying that Jesus Christ has shed His Most Precious Blood to save us from our sins. This “seal” is not a physical mark; but, it is a mark that is felt in our hearts, imprinted in our minds, and prominently displayed by our demeanor and actions in life.
