II Corinthians 3:12 “Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:”
To “use great plainness of speech” is to declare the Doctrine of Christ clearly and without reservation. The “able ministers of the new testament” (II Corinthians 3:6) will speak the truth of Jesus Christ even when it is not popular or publicly accepted, will speak the truth of Jesus Christ even if it is mocked by some, will speak the truth of Jesus Christ even in the face of hostile adversaries, will speak the truth of Jesus Christ so clearly that even the opposers can understand it, and will speak the truth of Jesus Christ even if it results in persecution. Furthermore, all faithful Children of God will speak the truth of Jesus Christ in Church, among their families, among their friends, and publicly as often as the Lord providentially provides an opportunity. The Lord has plainly opened the Gospel in His Holy Word; there is nothing hid as it was when in the days of old when “Moses … put a vail over his face” and the “minds” of the Children of Israel “were blinded”, and even in Paul’s day there was still a “vail … upon their heart” because they clung to the Old Testament Law Service (II Corinthians 3:13-15); “Nevertheless when it [their hearts] shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.” (II Corinthians 3:16). The same is true in our day, many still cling to man’s works to obtain Eternal Salvation and reject such passages as “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10). Let us “use great plainness of speech” and worshipfully declare that Jesus Christ alone has “finished” (John 19:30) the work to “save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21)!
