Psalms 52:7 “Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”
In every generation, the Children of God are much plagued by those who do not trust in “God” for their “strength”; but, they trust “in the abundance of” their own “riches, and” they strengthen themselves in their “wickedness”. They boast themselves “in mischief”, their “tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully”, they do “evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness”, they love “devouring words”, and they have a “deceitful tongue” (Psalms 52:1-4). The Psalmist declares to them, “God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.” and “The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:” (Psalms 52:5-6). But those who trust in the Lord will be “like a green olive tree in the house of God” trusting “in the mercy of God for ever and ever” (Psalm 52:8). Therefore, “I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.” (Psalms 52:9). Let us hear and take heed to what the Lord told Israel of old, “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.” (Psalms 37:3).
