Romans 5:16 “And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.”
The amazing thing about Grace is that it is Grace! In Romans Five, Paul makes it clear that when Adam (“one that sinned”) disobeyed God, he being the human father of all mankind introduced sin into mankind; thus, rendering all his posterity into a state of sin-guilt. Therefore, Adam brought “condemnation” upon all of mankind, rendering all unfit for Eternal Life with God. However, the Love of God toward His Children is so great (Ephesians 2:4) that, “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8); for, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (I John 4:10). As “the propitiation for our sins”, our Lord Jesus Christ is our complete and final “justification” (Romans 8:29-30) from all sin. Furthermore, God made His choice of a particular people to Eternally Save even “before the foundation of the world” and based His choice on His own “love”: “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” (Ephesians 1:4); said another way, the “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:” (I Peter 1:2). And it gets even better; of those that He chose to Eternally save from their sins (Matthew 1:21), it is not possible for Him to lose or leave behind a single one: “And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.” (John 6:39). Isaiah made it very clear that man has done ALL the sinning and Christ has done ALL the saving (Isaiah 53:4-12). Now we cry aloud “What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?” (Psalms 116:12) and joyfully sing, “Grace Tis A Charming Sound” (Philip Doddridge)!
