John 12:4 “Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him, 5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.”
Even in the most happy and pleasing moments of our lives, we must remain vigilant, for evil knows no shame, he will slither in and try to tear down our joy. In this gloriously monumental moment with the Lord, “Judas Iscariot” reared his head and dismissed Mary’s anointing of the Lord’s feet as a waste. But, the truth was that “he was a thief” and the Lord declared that he was “a devil” (John 6:70). “Judas” had no respect nor appreciation for the high worship of that moment, he was carnally cold and self-centered. Just as surely as such a “devil” would follow our Lord around to aggravate and trouble Him, such devils will weasel their way into our lives to inflict as much misery upon us as they possibly can. Like “Judas”, they will even find a way into the Church to cause trouble and division among the Lord’s people. We should take note that the Lord put the “devil” in his place by simply and clearly declaring the truth; this is the pattern we should carefully follow! In our Lord’s opening message to His Church-Kingdom, He issued this warning: “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” (Matthew 7:15)! In the end, the “devil” loses, and the Lord and His Bride win every time!
