John 12:23 “And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”
Everyone raised on a farm knows that seed is planted in the ground, and under the right conditions it dies, and when it dies it produces a new plant which brings forth abundant fruit that is much like the seed that was planted. In this analogy, the Lord is pointing out that He would soon “die” and through His blessed death, He would bring “forth much fruit”; that is, He would be “the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:18). And, being the Absolutely Perfect Lamb Of God, He would justify and glorify; thus save to Eternal Heaven, a great host of people, both Jews and Gentiles, all that His Father had chosen in Him “before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4) and had given Him (John 6:39). Furthermore, He will not lose or leave behind a single one of them, but He will “raise” them all up to Eternal Heaven on the “last day” (John 6:39), the great day of God’s Harvest!
