Amos 3:3 “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”
The context here is, how can you expect to walk with God, continuing to receive His blessings of provision and protection if you do not walk in agreement with Him, keeping His Commandments?! Israel’s merciful and gracious God had defended them against their enemies, provisioned them abundantly, and had “brought” them “up from the land of Egypt” (Amos 3:1). And the Lord told them, “You only have I known of all the families of the earth” (Amos 3:2); that is, “I” have “known” (loved) you like none of the other “families of the earth”. But, they still had rebelled against Him, had not walked in agreement with Him, so He tells them, “therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities” (Amos 3:1)! Lest we excuse ourselves from this dire warning, read carefully: “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” (I Peter 4:17).
