2022-09-15 “an evident token of perdition”

Philippians 1:28  “And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God29  For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;  30  Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

Here we are exhorted and encouraged to be “in nothing terrified by your adversaries”; that is, no matter what our “adversaries” attack us with, just do not be frightened or discouraged by it, just keep right on pressing “toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).  The devil and his false teachers and antichrists are right now engaged in an all-out war against true Christianity.  For many years the attacks seemed to be quite subtle, but now they are becoming more and more overt and vicious.  The devil is very sly, through his many devices and lies, he is trying to steal our young away.  He is flooding our Country with murderous drugs and false teachings and filling our streets with vicious crime and immorality.  He sits in our homes, via the internet and television, teaching and promoting the very things that brought the awful wrath of God against cities and countries in Biblical times.  Yet, we must not be “terrified by” our “adversaries”; because, the God we worship is the “Lord of hosts”; and He has plainly declared, “Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:” (Isaiah 1:24).  The fact that the “adversaries” so viciously hate and attack Christianity and Christian beliefs and practices is “an evident token of perdition”; that is, it is evidence that He generationally defeats them in life, and one day they will ultimately be completely and forever destroyed.  The fact that we are the object of their vicious hatred is evidence of our “salvation”; that is, by our Lord’s mercy and grace, we are granted seasons of refuge and rest in this life, and we look forward to Eternal Joy and Bliss with Him.  And it is “that of God”; meaning, “God” Himself is the absolute surety of it.  Simply put, the Lord wins and the devil loses, so don’t be afraid, just remain steadfast in our commitment and service to Him, to His Church, to His Word, and to His people!
