2023-02-20 “whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him”

I John 3:6  “Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

Here again the tense of words is very important, the word “sinneth” is in the ‘historical present’ tense; meaning, the sinning and its guilt has been occurring, is occurring, and will continue to occur.  There are people who are in a perpetual state of sin because they do not have a loving knowledge of the Lord, nor of His Word, nor of His Church.  They do not lovingly know the Lord because He does not and will never lovingly know them (Matthew 7:23).  Our Lord draws a clear distinction between His Elect Children (I Peter 1:2) and those who are not; calling those who are His Elect, “sheep” and those who are not, “the goats” (Matthew 25:32-34).  His “sheep” are perfectly sinless because He gave His life for them the make them so (John 10:10, II Corinthians 5:21)!  Now, His Elect Sheep worship and greatly rejoice in our Good Shepherd’s Grace and Mercy!
