2023-03-31 “Ye are of God, little children”

I John 4:4  “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Those who “are of God” are His “children” and allegorically His “sheep” (John 10).  “God” “hath chosen us [His “children”] in him [Jesus Christ] before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love” (Ephesians 1:4).  His “children” are “holy and without blame before him in love” because our Blessed Savior “loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood” (Revelation 1:5); thus, He “hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (II Timothy 1:9).  He “hath saved us”; that is, He is the “man” that “offered one sacrifice for sins for ever” (Hebrews 10:12).  That “one sacrifice for sins” fully paid our sin-debt before God our Heavenly Father; consequently, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus”, and the evidence that they are His “children” is that they “walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:1).  He makes His beloved “children” know and love Him when He gives them Spiritual Life (John 3:1-8).  These “children” are also known “as the elect of God” (Colossians 3:12).  These “elect” are “the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth” (Romans 9:11).  Our Lord has such a “great love” (Ephesians 2:4) for His “children” that NOTHING “shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39).  And, our Lord lovingly declared of His “elect” “children”, “all which he [God the Father] hath given me I [Jesus Christ] should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day” (John 6:39).  Even “at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace” (Romans 11:5)!  Let the “world” know who we are by our “walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”!
