I John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
The Children of God “have overcome” the “antichrist” and his myriad of “antichrists” “because greater is” The Lord God Almighty that is in them, “than” the “antichrist” “that is in the world”. In this context, to “overcome” is to be victorious over an enemy by defeating all his weapons and vicious attacks. The “antichrist” has many powerful weapons to use against the Children of God, to hinder them, and to draw them away in to sin and confusion and ruin. But, “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds” (II Corinthians 10:4). The “antichrist” deploys his vile weapons within hearts and minds, within families, within Government, within schools, within Churches, and within the great institutions of our Country. We are plainly told that “their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief” (Proverbs 24:2). Paul tells us that “Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: 14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 Destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 And the way of peace have they not known: 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.” (Romans 3:13-18). However, God’s faithful Children “have overcome them”, not because they are so naturally strong and wise, but because The Almighty God in them is their strength and He is victorious in every battle. Let us never forget that “The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.” (Proverbs 10:29)!
