I John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
The declaration that, “He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” is a test of our Doctrine. If our Doctrine promotes a “fear” of Eternal Destruction, then our Doctrine is wrong. Flawed Doctrine threatens people with eternal destruction in order to produce a confession and then keep them bound to the Lord. These flawed Doctrines are most often justified by using such words as “save”, “saved”, “deliver” and “deliverance” out of Biblical Context. True Biblical Doctrine promotes assurance that our Beloved Lord Jesus Christ “hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (II Timothy 1:9). True Doctrine encourages belief of our Lord’s declaration that “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.” (John 6:37-39). It is certainly true that “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.” (Hebrews 12:6) and, as the Lord declared, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” (Revelation 3:19). But, not a single one of those that God the Father “hath chosen … in him [Christ Jesus] before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4) will be Eternally Lost; every one of them will be raised to Eternal Life on the Last Day of this world. True motivation to believe and make confession of faith and cling to the Lord is born out of our God given love for God!
