2023-06-12 “the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost”

I John 5:7  “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

God is perfect in every way.  With respect to the Godhead, He is perfect in His order and discipline.  Some consider this blessed truth to be polytheism (multiple gods), which is absolutely not the case, for “these three are one”!  Our Lord Jesus Christ declared, “I and my Father are one.” (John 10:30), and He prayed to the “Father” “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one” (John 17:22).  Yet, our God reveals Himself in a way that is perfect in its order.  The “record” (“witness”) in Heaven is He that is “the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost”.  They are not simply unified in agreement, “these three are one”, all being the Supreme Being and having the same will and purpose!  We can somewhat understand that God is the Heavenly “Father”, for we have earthly fathers who, by God’s design, sit at the head of their families.  We can somewhat understand that God is the Heavenly “Word”, for He came amongst men to reveal and accomplish the “will of” “the Father” (John 5:30).  We can somewhat understand that God is the Heavenly “Holy Ghost” (“Holy Spirit”), for like the wind He moves and works among the Children of God; doing such things as giving them Spiritual Birth (John 3:1-8), teaching them (John 14:26), helping them (Romans 8:26), guiding them (John 16:13), and comforting them (John 14:16).  To know and rejoice in this blessed truth is to have been given Spiritual Birth by they “Holy Spirit”.  There is no greater joy in this present world than to feel, deep within our souls, that God is our Loving Heavenly “Father”, that the “Word” (Jesus Christ) is our Savior, and that the “Holy Spirit” is our Comforter and Helper as long as we live!
