I John 1:1 “The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; 2 For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.”
All “they that have known the truth” “love” “the elect lady and her children” “For the truth’s sake”. This blessed “truth” “dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever”. Our Lord plainly declared unto Peter and us, “upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). This “rock” is “the truth” that Peter so boldly declared when he answered that “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:16). This blessed “truth” “dwelleth in us” personally and in us The Church of Jesus Christ. This “truth” includes both the declared “truth” and Jesus Christ the very essence and cause of “the truth” (John 14:6). Furthermore, it “shall be with us for ever”. Without the indwelling “Christ, the Son of the living God”, “the truth”, a person has no Spiritual Life and no desire nor hope for Spiritual things. Also, without the indwelling “Christ, the Son of the living God”, “the truth”, a Church is no Church at all. But, we have this assurance that “Christ, the Son of the living God”, “the truth”, “dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever” and “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”. When we come to the last day of this earth, there will still be “true worshippers” faithfully worshiping “the Father in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23). As the Lord told His Apostles, “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:20). As He told Israel, “the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake” (I Samuel 12:22)! No matter how madly “the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing” (Psalms 2:1), as Daniel prophesied, “in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever” (Daniel 2:44) – He did set it up and it still stands! Let us sincerely rejoice with those that John heard in Heaven as “the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth” (Revelation 19:6).
