Psalms 141:9 “Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity. 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.”
These “snares” and “gins” are traps set by “the workers of iniquity” to harm the faithful Children of God, to draw them away into sin, to weaken their resolve and ability to remain obedient to the Lord, and to confuse them by moving them to doubt the Great Truths of our Lord. The god of “the workers of iniquity” is their own ravenous lusts that is not governed by the love of God and Godliness. Thus, they hate all that is good and right before the Lord God Almighty. And, the Psalmist prays, “Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.”. The Lord often does this very thing, He uses the traps “the wicked” sets for the faithful Children of God to ensnare them in their own evil devices, causing themselves to fall into ruin. Most often, their fall into ruin is an awful sight to behold. In doing so, the Lord provides a way for His faithful Children to “escape” the evil clutches of the “wicked”. Even while under the pressures of the “gins” and “snares”, let us rejoice; for, we have an Almighty, Loving God that hears the cries of His Children and provides a way of “escape” (I Corinthians 10:13) for them.
