Hebrews 13:2 “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
Both the Old and New Testaments reveal that “angels” appeared and worked among men, carrying out the will of God. “angels” are beings, created by God, who are equipped and empowered for the purpose of carrying out His will. They delivered messages from God to men, they performed miraculous acts in the lives of men, defeated great armies, and carried out watch-care duties for the Children of God and His Church. In this passage we learn that the “strangers” we encounter might even be “angels” working through them, and it is possible that the “angels” could reveal themselves in a human form. The sentiment here is that we should always treat “strangers” with the same “brotherly love” (Hebrews 13:1) that we would display if we knew that God’s Messenger was right there, on scene with us. Furthermore, we should keep a tight rein on our attitude and behavior, especially in testy situations, for the Lord’s “angels” may be on scene or even be a part of the situation that we are dealing with. The Lord explained it this way, “Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10).
