Hebrews 13:20 “Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
In his closing prayer, the Apostle declares the supreme majesty and glory of our “God” and cites Him as the fountain of all our blessings. Paul explains “the God of peace” this way, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” (Romans 5:1). Man’s “peace with God” was shattered when “Adam” “did eat” (Genesis 3:6) what God had Commanded him not to “eat”; thus, bringing sin into the world. And, Isaiah tells us that “your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you” (Isaiah 59:2). But, “Now the God of peace”, our Heavenly Father, sent His Beloved Son to be “The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). Now, by our Lord’s Sacrificial Death, He alone hath made our “peace with God”; thus, He “is our peace” (Ephesians 2:14). Now, we can “therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16) and we confidently look forward to that blessed day in which we will hear His glorious voice Command, “Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34)!
