John 10:29-30 “My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and my Father are one.”
The knowledge that God is Triune is, quite probably, the most challenging thing that I know. By faith, I know that it is so; but, understanding how it can be is far beyond my mental capacity to comprehend. The Bible speaks clearly of the Almighty things that God the Father does, that God the Son does, and that God the Holy Spirit does. Great volumes have been written by highly educated and intellectual men who try to explain it; but, when we read their explanations there is always an underlying sense that we are trying to reach far beyond the limits of our abilities to comprehend. But, our God-given “faith” (Hebrews 11:1; 12:2) cries out within our souls, declaring that it is indeed so. Our Lord Commands us to Baptize “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19); and John tells us that “there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one” (I John 5:7). This is not polytheism, for God is indeed Triune; for, our Lord told “Philip” that “he that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (Joh 14:9). But, our Lord did not declare “I and my Father are one.” to confuse us, He said it to heavily emphasize that we are Eternally Secure in the “hand” of God. In contrast, natural man has no ability to obtain or secure or maintain our Eternal Salvation; but, God alone has Secured our Eternal Home In Heaven with Him. By “faith” we are certain of it! Job was so sure of it that he declared, “I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. 26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: 27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.” (Job 19:25-27). We have a lot of things to be concerned about in this present life, but the true Gospel Message sweetly sooths and comforts us; for it declares that our Eternal Salvation rests securely in the “hand” of God! Thus, we “rejoice with joy unspeakable” (I Peter 1:8) while we live!
