Psalm 18:3 “I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.”
David recalls the things he knew about “the LORD”; His Sovereign Power, His Great Love, His abundant Grace and Mercy, and His Will to Deliver His suffering Children through the great temptations and tribulations of this present life. The gods of this world have none of these attributes and cannot save or deliver anyone. But, our Living God, the “LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance” (Psalms 94:14). Our “Good Shepherd” (John 10:11) lovingly exhorts us to “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28). There is no trouble, no trial, nor tribulation that our Lord cannot deliver us from or through! Furthermore, our sins often plague us, but the Good News is that our “God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:32). He is indeed our Almighty “friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24) and He is “worthy to be praised”!
