Psalm 91:1 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
The Lord has very kindly and graciously given us numerous illustrations of how He lovingly takes care of us. The reason for so many illustrations is that we face so many different trials and troubles in our lives. Each trouble has its own peculiarities; however, the Lord has an answer for each trial no matter how strange or difficult that trial might be. The Lord describes His care for us as being “under the shadow of the Almighty”, as our “refuge” as our “fortress”, and as our “God”. As we come face to face with our trials, we are to know that “he shall deliver thee” (Psalms 91:3) and that “He shall cover thee with his feathers” (Psalms 91:4). When we bear these truths in mind, we can face our troubles with confidence and “not be afraid” (Psalms 91:5)! Therefore, when the trials of this life rise up to confront us and we are too weary to stand, let us hurriedly flee to the Lord; and there, joyfully “abide under the shadow of the Almighty”.
