Isaiah 53:8 “He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.”
The wicked Jewish leaders at that time, hated our Beloved Lord Jesus Christ because His very presence exposed their power-hungry corruption. As well as being our Savior, our Lord arrived in this world as the Superior “King” (I Timothy 1:17; 6:15) over all authorities and the Final “High Priest” (Hebrews 2:17; 3:1; 4:14; 5:1; 5:5; 6:20; 8:1). And, a great many people believed in Him and were following Him. Therefore, many of the local kings and priests and religious authorities perceived that He was unseating them, robbing them of their fame and wealth and power. The Jewish authorities could not allow a regular judicial process, because He could prove that He is the “King”, “High Priest”, and “Messiah”-“Christ” by the true Old Testament “law”, “prophets”, and “psalms” (Luke 24:44). Therefore, they “sought to kill him” (John 7:1; Luke 22:2; John 5:18). Under normal circumstances they would hold a suspect in “prison” until he could be properly tried and receive a just “judgment”. But, in our Lord’s case, they took Him late in the evening, and then pressured the Roman authorities to “crucify him” (Mark 15:13). The Roman authorities bowed to their pressure, so our Lord was summarily charged and convicted within just a few hours and then He was Crucified the same day according to the Jewish calendar. Thus, “He was taken from prison and from judgment”; that is, He was not given the benefit of a normal judicial process. However, they didn’t know it, but they were carrying out the necessary “will of God” (Galatians 1:4), in which our Lord was Sacrificed in compliance with God’s Divine Justice, which was necessary to “save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). On a very grand scale, He defeated the purpose of the wicked rulers because they did not and could not take His life, He gave it, and He took it up again (John 10:18). And, today and forever, He Gloriously Reigns as our “King”, “High Priest”, and “Savior”!
