Acts 4:18 “And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.”
There is a very loud portion of our Country that seems to despise any teaching concerning Jesus Christ, especially His Commandments for brotherly kindness, integrity, personal responsibility, and morality. I suspect that they are not the majority, but they are many and they are very loud. The opposition to our Beloved Lord Jesus Christ and His Doctrine and His Church is not a new thing; ungodly folks and wicked rulers have been opposing and issuing such commands to hinder and stop the Doctrine of Christ since the beginning of time. So, we should not be surprised when such opposition arises in our generation. But, because of the godly wisdom of the able men that our Lord used to establish our Country, our government cannot legally prevent us from worshiping and serving our Lord. However, the “heathen” still “rage” “and imagine vain things” (Psalms 2:1; Psalms 46:6; Acts 4:25). The Lord has given us an example to follow when such opposition arises. When the “heathen” were raging, “Peter and John” declared, “we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard” concerning Jesus Christ (Acts 2:20). When the authorities released them, they went right back to preaching and teaching Jesus Christ. Let us pray for wisdom and strength to remain faithful to our Lord, His Word, His Gospel, and His Church just like our Biblical ancestors did!
