I Peter 3:8 “Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:”
In the midst of his first Epistle, Peter gives us an interim summation of his exhortations. In this summation, he exhorts us to “be ye all of one mind”. To be “of one mind” is to be unified in the understanding and application of Bible doctrines and practices. To be “of one mind” is to look upon the brotherhood of Christ as brethren and not exalting ourselves over, what may be perceived as, even the least one in the Church. To be “of one mind” is to most humbly and vigilantly care for each other, valuing others greater than ourselves. To be “of one mind” is to be patient, longsuffering, and forgiving toward our brethren and sisters in Christ. To be “of one mind” is to take our place alongside the faithful believers in the Church of Jesus Christ. To be “of one mind” is to present ourselves at the place of worship when the Church meets. To be “of one mind” is to actively and energetically participate in and support the Church in all her duties and functions. When the “Elect” (I Peter 1:2), “born again” (I Peter 1:23) Children of God are harmoniously centered on the doctrines and practices contained in God’s Word; (1) The Lord is glorified, (2) The Children of God are contented, and (3) Other “Elect” (I Peter 1:2), “born again” (I Peter 1:23) Children of God are drawn to the Church. The word “all” in this phrase is both absolute and inclusive; that is, this commandment fully applies to every “born again” (I Peter 1:23) Child of God. Let us strive with all diligence to be “all of one mind”.
