2025-04-29 – “them that are sanctified by God the Father”

Jude 1:1  “Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:

In this case, “sanctified” means to have been separated (Elected) from among profane things and dedicated to God; that is, the Lord made choice of a particular people “before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4, I Peter 1:2) and dedicated them to Himself “according to the good pleasure of his will” (Ephesian 1:5), not “according to” the “will” of man.  To have been “sanctified” was the act of God that rendered His Chosen People “saints” (Jude 1:3).  John saw the “saints”, the “Elect” (I Peter 1:2) as “a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands” (Revelation 7:9).  It is an astonishing thing that God would choose anyone, for when “The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.” (Psalm 14:2); He saw that “They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Psalm 14:3).  Therefore, we must conclude that He Chose His People by His Divine Grace, not according to man’s good works (Ephesians 2:8-9).  It is no wonder that the Psalmist declared, “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!  22  And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.” (Psalms 107:21-22)!
