2020-3-6 Leaders’ Commitment To “mercy and judgment”

Psalm 101:1  I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.

This Psalm ought to be memorized and owned by leaders in any position; it is a commitment to “mercy and judgment”; that is, a commitment before the “LORD” to be kind toward others and to make good decisions that benefit others.  While it is true that Jesus Christ is the only Leader to perfectly keep this commitment, it ought to be the great desire and resolve of all leaders and the rest of us too.  To “sing of mercy and judgment” is to openly and joyfully declare commitment to the magnificent principles of “mercy and judgment” that are contained in this Psalm.  Just imagine how much more pleasant life would be if all our leaders took this oath and resolved themselves to keep it: “I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way”, “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes”, “I will not know a wicked person”, “Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer”, “Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land”, “he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me”, “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight”, and “I will early destroy all the wicked of the land” (Psalm 101:2-8).  I recommend that this Psalm be read each morning, after prayer in each branch of our Government!
