Psalm 36:7 “How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.”
We “trust” in our “God” because of His “lovingkindness” toward us. The English word, “lovingkindness” is a contraction of “loving” and “kindness”. “We love” our Lord, “because he first loved us” (I John 4:19). It is impossible to trace the beginning of our Lord’s “love” for His “Elect” (Romans 9:11, I Peter 1:2); but, we do know that He revealed His “great love” (Ephesians 2:4) for us, even “before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4) and that nothing can separate us from His “love” for us; thus, it is Eternal (Romans 8:35-39). Those whom our “God” did/does not choose to “love”, do not “love” Him; and without this blessed “love”, they are wicked, arrogant, self-centered, and day and night they scheme to do wicked things to benefit themselves and harm others (Psalm 36:1-4). But, our Lord’s “Elect”, “born again” (John 3:1-8) “children”, “love” Him “because he first loved” them; and, while the “wicked” are scheming to do evil, the Children of God are prayerfully seeking ways to faithfully show their “love” to their Lord, even in the most difficult times. For, when the times are difficult, those who “love” the Lord “put their trust under the shadow of” His “wings” where they experience His blessed “kindness”. When trouble comes, like a hen calling to her little ones, our Lord calls out to us by His Holy Spirit, and we flee to Him, and “under the shadow of” His mighty “wings” we find incalculable love, peace, and security!
