What do we tell our friends?
When the name Primitive Baptist is spoken, we are often asked, "what is the difference between the Primitive Baptist and __________". This little booklet provides Biblical answers to such questions.
John 3:16
This booklet addresses John 3:16 in context, with special emphasise on the words "believeth" and "world".
1 Peter
Phrase by phrase expository writings from I Peter
II Peter
his book contains an outline of my thoughts on the subject matter contained in II Peter. In commenting on the more complex passages, I took a plain text approach; for example, when Peter wrote, “things shall be dissolved”; I took him at his word. As with I Peter, this Epistle was written in a time when the Church was being persecuted and driven about. The Churches needed encouragement; so, Peter wrote to “stir up” their “pure minds” and ours too, for the Church in our day also needs encouragement. In times of distress it is good to be reminded that God is sovereign in both power and authority and that He will not leave us to face our adversaries alone and that one great and blessed day He will take His Elect Home!
Biblical Jewels 1
The notes of encouragement are the result of daily notes transmitted via the internet to a good many folks around the country under the title, “Notes From The Pastor’s Trumpet”. The purpose of these notes is to encourage us to lift ours eyes above our daily trials and disappointments “unto the hills, from whence cometh my help” (Psalm 121:1); that is, to the sure promises of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On the night before He was crucified, the Lord candidly told His Apostles, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). As we seek to “take up the cross, and follow” the Lord (Mark 10:21), we should not be surprised when we “have tribulation”, we should be of “good cheer;” for the Lord has “overcome the world”, the source of our “tribulation”. It is good for us to be reminded daily that we have an Almighty “friend that sticketh closer than a brother” (Proverb 18:24), who will “never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5)
